Printer reports paper jam when no paper jam exists - printer reset, duplex unit removed and blown clean, internals of printer blown clean to ensure no small pieces of paper were present, printer still refused to function due to paper jam. Searched on web possible fault found, would require complete disassembly of printer to replace a small spring submerged in ink waste tank which can corrode after time.

Don't waste too much time, as a lot of faults with HP printers are due to manufacturer's enthusiasm to ensure that only HP inks are used, in this case looks like incorrect reporting of fault leading to wasted time trying to fix a fault which doesn't actually exist, but the printer is still unable to function.
