Cracked case - as carrying out PAT test electrical insulation / continuity were ok, but it became apparent that the case was cracked extensively, pulling back case showed that some wires appeared to have cuts in the insulation, at which owner explained the iron had been dropped several times. Unsafe to attempt repair as electrical or thermal safety could not be assured.
