Defect found
Fracture at hinge (design fault!) Lots of sticky residue which needs to be removed before fracture can be mended.

Hinge broken and currently 'mended' with lots of tape which has left a sticky residue.

What did you do, what advice did you give?
Removed residue with a combination of isopropyl (removed the sticky) and acetone (removed the residue.) Fix could not be completed in timeframe so advised visitor to use Araldite to fill and mend (or return to the next session.)

Do you have any suggestions for other repairers of this (or similar) product?
Having a variety of solvents, etc, on hand made the mend a lot easier. Glue required for finish. Possibly reinforce with a metal pin.
