Fault inside sealed unit - earth connectivity from plug to inside multi-socket extension lead part ok; earth failure must be inside unit itself, which is seald. Cabling is rubber (1950/60's?), potentially very dangerous, so chopped up for disposal. Recommended replacement of full unit.
