Case was misaligned, causing buttons to not function. The potentiometer that controls the volume was not user serviceable and was failing.

What did you do, what advice did you give?
I was able to repair the case misalignment which made the buttons work. I was not able to fix the volume issue as it required a replacement potentiometer that we didn't have.
