One of the charging case gold contacts have been compressed, so it is not making any contact with airpods.

Left earbud not charging, occasionally when moved around it charges only for a few seconds.

What did you do, what advice did you give?
Prying open the airpods to adjust the contact position would be tedious and very likely damage the case. Safer alternative is to put some copper tape to bridge the connection between airpod and charging contact.
