The missing plastic was exposing wires, however the insulation was not burnt off and nothing seemed to be damaged.

The plastic bottom was about 20 missing due to a melting-on-the-stove incident

What did you do to repair it?
Cut out a piece of plastic in the correct shape and screwed it to the bottom of the instant pot to cover up the hole. Even took care to use a screw as a foot to make sure it sits level.
