What did you do to repair it?
Fixed corrupted log. Re-ran update. Installed driver. Rebooted fuller working. Advisd owner to get new battery as issue could have been caused by power interruption during installation with no battery power. Obscured as while laptop required no log in, it was set up with 2 users only one of which had root access.
