Qu'est-ce que vous avez fait pour le réparer ?
I drilled out the broken spindle on each side, I then turned a new spindle on my lathe and this was fitted and glued into place. The bottom of the damaged chair leg was sawn off, and a new piece was turned on the lathe and glued into place on the chair leg. I then made a dowel out of oak, and drilled a hole through the bottom of the new piece of oak that I had glued to the chair leg. The dowel was then glued into position to reinforce the repair on the chair leg. As the chair was between 150 to 200 years old the colour difference was quite considerable to the new oak I had used. It was then fumed in an ammonia tent to darken the wood. I used various wood stains to achieve as good a match as I could, it was then polished. Using a dark furniture polish over a period of time should darken the new oak to a reasonable match.

Avez-vous un conseil pour d'autres réparateurs sur la réparation de ce produit (ou similaire) ?
Do be aware of how much work may be necessary before taking on an apparently simple repair, simple doesn't always equal quick. However, really satisfying to save such an old piece of furniture from scrap.
